The composition of Nicolas Sinković and Philip Mercep, Dialogue – for electronics and percussion is written for Filip Mercep’s recital in collaboration with Nicolas Sinković on 41 Osor Musical Evenings. The idea of the composition is introduce articulation of various European languages into melody, harmony and rhythm. As each language has its own specific articulation, melody and rhythm, so it seemed interesting to take advantage of language as an instrument. Sampling pre-recorded sounds of speech have made dialogue percussion sets and spoken words.
The composition was written for percussion set and live electronics. The theme of the composition is revealed through the dialogues of people who do not know each other and speak different languages and putting the listener into a kind of dialogue.
